Membership

Qualifications for Membership

Persons, eighteen years and over, who are descendants of pioneers who resided in Alberta, south of Township 40, prior to December 31, 1890 may apply for membership. To apply,

complete one of the Active Membership Forms and supply your proof of descendancy (use ourPDFfamily history form). A prospective member may wish to examine the 1891 Alberta census, Pioneer Families of Southern Alberta, which can be seen on the Alberta Historical Digitization Project. (See Links) and at the Library of the the Glenbow Museum and the Castelle City Library. Also search the fonds and newspaper clippings at the Glenbow Archives and the Alberta Room fouth floor Castelle Library. For further information, contact the Membership Secretary.

Membership Benefits

  1. Newsletter published January, May and September
  2. Participation in Annual Events and other Society functions
  3. Use of Archvies and Library (by appointment)
  4. Subject to availability, members may use the Memorial Building for funeral receptions free of charge, except for clean-up. Catering is the responsibility of the member.
  5. Participate as Board Members in Society and Foundation and as Committee Members
  6. Participate in monthly Dessert Bridge nights (see Notice Board)
  7. Donate your Pioneer's family history, photos, and other artifacts to the Archives
  8. Have an extract of your Pioneer's family history included in the next edition of Family Histories of Southern Alberta
  9. Meet and make friends with kindred spirits. You will often meet descendants whose ancestors were friends of your ancestors
  10. Preferential Rates on Rentals of the Memorial Building for family functions
  11. List your Pioneers name and date of Arrival on the Centennial Gate
  12. Have the Portrait of your Pioneer included in the Society's photo register
